THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF DYSLEXIA
Stanley Sutton & David Hillidge Bsc
For Hebrew and Arabic foreign language speakers text is read from right to left though for the majority of other languages text is in a left to right clearly highlighting that orientation in reading is not only in one direction and varies between race and language. As this is the case it is obvious that not all people fit in the same box and consequently direction of a given language is taught with disregard to preference. The dyslexic automatic reflex of right to left scanning can not be altered and must be accommodated by providing appropriate directional text.
My research indicates dyslexia is a scanning orientation problem caused by subconscious involuntary right to left eye movement. This was first identified by the Greeks around 800BC. To address this problem the Greeks developed palindromic letters and is the only written language in the world that has been specifically designed to be read in either direction. It took 300 years for the Greeks to develop this alphabet to fulfil the needs of two different visual scanning groups. The historic evidence is beyond doubt, the amount of work that went into changing the alphabet to be palindromic is staggering. I have no hesitation in say it cannot be bettered.
My findings show there are two different scanning groups right to left and left to right scanners, a detailed explanation is given in The Primary Cause Of Dyslexia backed by conclusive historical evidence.
The research of Richard Shillcock, Padraic Monaghan and Yu-ju Sally Chou into Chinese characters will be of great interest and their results are in tune with my findings and palindromes.
Shillcock states “ We report an investigation into the processing of symmetrical lexical stimuli by a patient with moderate visual neglect. This subject’s dyslexia was significantly less pronounced when presented with symmetrical lexical stimuli ( palindromes) than with matched non-symmetrical words.”

In conjunction with my research and existing research into dyslexia the evidence is overwhelming, and the Greek historical material has been the key to solving this mystery and is easily verified. the majority of expert opinion I have received indicate that right to left scanning has been documented in trials and agree that it can be a factor in dyslexia, but prefer to gravitate towards phonological processing as the problem. They have not answered why people scan from right to left or the effect this scanning process would have on reading normal text. I am constantly asked to refer to phonological research, the impression I get is that they believe this to be the only cause of dyslexia. The problem with phonological processing research is that they can not explain why people transposes numbers or explain why dyslexic musicians have difficulty reading music but can play by ear. I believe my research clearly shows that this is a visual right/left orientation problem.
One ophthalmic expert suggests that there would not be many people with a strong predisposition to scan in a certain direction. However there are two issues here
1. How many is not many?
2. The Greeks would have not needed to spend 300 years in creating an alphabet that is palindromic as there would have been no need for it were this correct.
No other nation has reversed the direction of their written text this is an important and unique discovery clearly indicating that direction of reading text is a major factor that has not been taken into consideration.

Since 2006 I have continued with my research that started with a simple question
“Could there be something wrong with the direction of the text?”
My findings indicate that Greek is the only language that can be read by reversing the text as it was originally read from right to left. My research shows the Greeks had identified the cause of dyslexia around 800bc to 500bc.this is good news for Greek dyslexics in this category as they can be corrected immediately by reversing Greek text. The problem I’ve found with English roman text is that it can not be reversed as stated in my findings. This is probably the reason why the cause of dyslexia has not been found sooner. To correct European dyslexics will be more challenging.
I investigated this possibility further and discovered that Leonardo Da Vinci had identified this phenomena in the 15th century, and is documented in his manuscripts, The Codex Trivulzianus, Codices Of The Institut De France and The Windsor Folis - found in Windsor Castle - The Royal Collection. This consists of 600 unbound drawings on a variety of various subjects. The documents on the anatomy of brain and it’s relationship to the eyes clearly showing the connection between it and the eye balls. Of particular interest are his depictions of the optic nerve and the optic chiasma, demonstrating how the visual cortex crosses over from the left eye to the right hemisphere of the brain. mirroring my own research
There are many other Da Vinci documents relating to lens and mirror manufacture, he clearly understood about image inversion through a lens as demonstrated in a camera. I believe my research to be the single most important rediscovery of the 21st century, having first been discovered by the Greeks between 800 bc. and 500 bc. and rediscovered by Leonardo Da Vinci in the 15th century unfortunately this was lost in antiquity.
"Never Judge A Man Until You've Walked To Moons In His Moccasins"
This is a Native American proverb. "Two moons" means two months, but generally it means enough time to understand how a person lives. Unless you live in another person's situation enough time to fully understand it, you can't judge that person.
